Available paper types for raised spot UV hang tags

Standard Coated Paper with lamination (matte or glossy)

Coated paper (also known as enamel paper, gloss paper, and slick paper) is paper that has been coated by a mixture of materials or a polymer to impart certain qualities to the paper, including weight, surface gloss, smoothness, or reduced ink absorbency. After being printed, the process of placing a laminate coating over each presentation folder during the finishing process gives these folders their unique smooth texture. You can choose whether to apply lamination outside or outside and inside of the folder. Please be noticed that the lamination process can only be applied for standard coated paper, not for natural textured paper.

After printing the postcard and adding a lamination layer (either matte lamination or gloss lamination) on the printed surface, we then can apply raised spot UV printing on the top of the laminated postcards.

Natural Textured Paper (or Premium Fine Art Paper)

Unfortunately, natural textured paper is not suitable for raised spot UV printing. Due to its lack of coating on the paper’s surface, UV printing might be absorbed into the paper material. Therefore, the raised spot UV printing technology can only be applied to standard coated paper (after being laminated).

Available lamination finish on raised spot UV hang tags

Lamination is a simple process. Once an item has been printed, it is passed through a machine that uses rollers to apply a sticky-back clear plastic to one or both sides of the paper. This machine typically uses pressure and heat to ensure that the laminate sticks. Once the plastic has been applied, the item is cut to size.

Please be aware that the lamination finish can only be applied on Standard Coated Paper. We have two different lamination types including matte and glossy lamination.

Matte lamination finish (recommended)

Matte lamination is a common type of lamination that adds a smooth, clear matte finish to printed labels. It’s easy to read products with a matte lamination as there is less glare, and this type of lamination makes products feel sophisticated. It looks natural while adding to the item’s perceived quality. Our matte laminated bottle labels are scratch-resistant, perfect for labelling products that will be exposed to harsh conditions.

For raised spot UV hang tags, we mostly use the matte lamination finish because the UV layer itself is already glossy. If you apply a gloss lamination finish and UV coating on the same printed artwork you won’t be able to recognize the UV coating.

Gloss lamination finish

Gloss lamination is a classic lamination style. The plastic used in gloss lamination is smooth, which reflects a lot of light and gives items a shiny quality. It is frequently applied to both sides of the product, providing a high degree of protection from damage.
